Extra-Curricular Activities are found in all levels of our school in many different forms. They can be sports, debate club, drama quiz, and student’s council & social events. A student’s future can be determined in the things that they do in the hours after school, in the school and before their parents get home. This paper describes the role of extracurricular activities and the positive effects that they can have on students of all kinds ranging from the above average student to the student that is on the brink of dropping out of school. The positive effects of extracurricular activities on students: extra-curricular activities are activities that students participate in that do not fall into the realm of normal curriculum of schools. They are found in all levels of our schools. There are number of activities that students participate in such activities like Art, Music, Sports, Athletics, Debate, Calligraphy, Essay Writing, Story Writing, Poster making, Extempore Play, One act play, Advertisements, Dance, Cleanliness & Hygiene and so on.
Participating in such activities is a great way to showcase your team work, leadership skills, individual skills, level of imagination, confidence, hidden potential, reasoning, critical thinking, level of awareness and that students place and emphasis on the harmonious development of student’s personality. As with anything in life, balance is very important to keep in mind. It’s ideal to try to choose activities from different categories both social economic & academic. So, that everyone should be able to see students range of talents and strong character traits. More over creativity is an asset because it helps students to think out of the box and it adds to campus, which is a bonus in the eyes of parents and in the life of school campus.
