Program description

The elementary school program is guided by The National Curriculum Framework (NCF), provided by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). The NCF provides a framework with goals for student achievements. While keeping these goals in mind, our public school customises day-to-day learning based on local and cultural considerations.
Instruction is conducted mainly in the English language, with accommodations made for students who are more comfortable in the regional languages of Punjabi and Hindi. Punjabi and Hindi are also taught as class subjects.
In the early primary grades, children are introduced to basic school subjects such as:
- English
- Maths
- Environmental Studies
- General knowledge (GK)
- Art/music
- Punjabi
- Hindi
- Divinity
- Computers
- Physical activity
- Moral values
- Reasoning and aptitude
In higher grades, new subjects are woven into the curriculum, such as:
- Social studies (SST)
- Science
- Computers
Students in higher grades also learn in laboratories, such as the:
- Composite science laboratory
- Mathematics laboratory
- English audio-visual laboratory
- Computer laboratory
Teaching is formulated to create inquisitive minds that seek to solve problems. Hands-on learning through manipulatives and projects promotes a deeper understanding of subjects. Students are encouraged to find connections between factual knowledge and the world around them.
On the creative side, students are given the chance to use their imaginations and to express themselves through literacy and art classes.
In addition to academic learning, children participate in extracurricular activities throughout the year. These include music, sports, competitions and cultural festivities. Learn more here.
On a daily basis, students participate in a 15 – 20 minute assembly to pray, exercise, celebrate holidays and listen to inspirational speeches. Sometimes, students also give speeches.
Daily breaks are given for snacks and lunch.
