Extracurricular activities

Primary school boys playing running game as outdoor activity at Guru Nanak Mission Public School

At Guru Nanak Mission Public School, education is not limited to academic subjects. Within school hours, children and teenagers attending our programs are given opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities.

Why we offer extracurricular activities

We believe that a student’s future can be determined not just by the subjects they are taught, but by the things they do in the hours when they are free to pursue their interests. Extracurricular activities play a positive role in the development of students, regardless of their academic achievements which are based on curricula.

The benefits of extracurricular activities include:

  • Showcasing the ability to work in a team
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Building confidence
  • Shaping personality
  • Revealing hidden potential
  • Employing reasoning and critical thinking skills
  • Acquiring new forms of knowledge
  • Enhancing the imagination
  • Applying lessons learned in the classroom to ‘real life’ situations

Overall, extracurricular activities provide a balance between academic curricula and the fun of creative participation. They add joy to the classroom, and provide a way for teachers to introduce applicable concepts to students.
